Counselling Appointments & Course Changes:

All students can access their timetables via the student portal between Sept 1st-Sept. 3rd. Once timetables are published, parents and students will receive an email saying that they are ready for viewing. A reminder to parents/guardians that your login is your full email address (ie. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). If you do not remember your password, click on the link ‘forgot my password’ and you will receive an email allowing you to reset. You can also contact the HSS office to reset your password (250-845-7217). For students, your login for timetables is your student ID (lastname.firstname). Your password is NOT the same as your computer login, it is whatever your set it for last time you used the portal. Again, you can click on the link ‘forgot my password’ to receive an email allowing you to reset or you can call the HSS office.

Please note that HSS usually only runs one section of each required class. This means that students may have to make difficult choices for some of their classes to avoid scheduling conflicts. Many students will need to consider taking online courses to provide flexibility in their timetable.

Gr. 8 & 9’s: your timetables are basically set (Middle school is in blocks A & B every day) and will be handed out on the 1st day of school – Wed., Sept. 8th.

This school year, Ms. Doyle will be providing online and flexibly delivered courses through BVEC Houston. We are excited for this as we will now have a teacher in the school providing online courses, providing help, and monitoring students taking online courses. Students choosing to take online courses should be self-motivated and able to schedule their time accordingly to ensure success.

Mr. Moes, the school counsellor, will be available for course scheduling on the following dates: Aug. 30 – Sept. 3rd.

Course Change Requests May Be Made For…

  • Missing Courses
  • Unbalanced Academic Load
  • Rescheduling a required class that you failed
  • Courses Needed for Post-Secondary
  • Elective Requests

Course Change Requests May NOT be Made For…

  • Teacher Preference
  • Wanting to be in the same class with your friends

Gr. 12's are welcome to pick out their lockers in the grad hallway and let the office know their #.

School supplies: The suggested supply list is on our facebook page, on this website as well as Country Wide Printing & Stationary. Teachers will let students know on the 1st day of class exactly what they need for supplies; safe purchases are zipper binders, pens, pencils, paper, scissors, glue sticks, etc.

MYEDUCATION BC PARENT PORTAL

Houston Secondary will be using the MyEducation BC Parent Portal to communicate student learning. This change from paper based report cards was due largely to parent feedback from across the district that indicated the desire for a more streamlined way for schools to communicate student progress with parents and guardians.

Parents will receive an email with instructions on how to login to the Parent Portal shortly. Report cards will be published to the Parent Portal at the end of each term and parents will be notified by email once they are posted.

Should you have any questions or concerns about Parent Portal access, please email the MyEd support team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
